Abstract

This article explores the lives of adolescent American girls, focusing on the unique struggles and challenges they face daily, including the loss of self and voice, the deleterious effects of social media, and violence. The article then examines how a theology of the cross can speak into girls’ lives, showing them the presence of the crucified and risen Lord amid their suffering. The article opens a conversation about the church’s response to the crisis girls are facing, including a focus on wholeness, language, and empowerment.
