Abstract

Although it would be anachronistic to expect sixteenth-century Lutheran reformers to answer twenty-first-century questions about digital worship, contemporary Lutherans have rich resources from the tradition for engaging challenging contextual issues. In particular, confessional Lutheran emphases on justification by faith, sacramental presence, open questions, and care for how worship reforms are implemented can illumine our conversations and enrich our practices today. With faith in Christ centering the use of the means of grace, Lutherans have reliable gospel foundations for discerning important matters of worship and life together.
