Abstract

In March of 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic caused the world to come to a screeching halt. Almost immediately, churches were forced to think about if, why, and how they would continue to worship together. More specifically, many began to wonder about ways in which the sharing of the Eucharist might take place. This article examines concepts of assembly, digital space, and issues related to the virtual celebration of the Eucharist (Holy Communion, the Lord’s Supper). The aim of this article is not to be prescriptive, but rather to pose significant questions in order to help faith communities think about important concerns related to virtual Communion.
