Flourishing in Complexity: Training the Leaders of Large Congregations

Abstract

The authors discuss their project, “Leading Multi-Staff Ministries: Flourishing in Complexity.†They discuss how large congregations produce, prepare, and call pastors for the church. Yet, there has been a lack of focus on training lead pastors of such congregations, preparing them to flourish. As pastors with large constituencies flourish, so grow the churches and their contributions and commitments to the larger institution, including training of future pastors through excellent, affordable seminary education. The article explores the process of training current and potential lead pastors of larger/complex congregations and indications for the future.
